Biography

Crazy Man Michael is the musical nom de plume of Manchester based multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter Michael Doward.

A  regular on the Manchester music scene since arriving here for university (he has a Masters level degree in Chemistry) in the mid-nineties; he took the stage name of Crazy Man Michael in the late Noughties when a burgeoning fascination with traditional (and not so traditional) English folk introduced him to the wonders of early Fairport Convention. His debut album, 2008's 'The Green Light', saw him embracing this love of England's musical heritage, combined with his other eclectic musical tastes to produce an album of intensely personal, yet accessible, songs.

Michael has, however, been far more active and prolific as bassist for a number of musical projects, details of which can be found in his discography.

If you would like to book Crazy Man Michael, you're interested in having him play bass for you, or you'd just like to say something then please email michael@crazymanmichael.co.uk.

He is also very uncomfortable writing about himself in the third person.

Record Label

Michael is delighted to be an active member of Manchester's Little Red Rabbit Collective. 'The Green Light' was released on the label in 2008 and he continues to be heavily involved in the label's sterling work.
